Our mission is to produce smart, adaptable and professional dancers in a dance education center unlike any other facility. Our goal is not only to guide our dancers in the classroom but also in life and career. Our program goes beyond any typical ballet and jazz program because we have an emphasis on educating our athletic dancers on injury prevention and overall wellness, performance quality, arts history and how to be independent problem solvers.
Our integrated strengthening programs for ballet provide our dancers with more education and vision on body awareness, wellness and safety.
Our attention to core strength and “mindful motion” has created a center point in our training that is creative and unmatched.
Even our youngest dancers, at the age of 2yrs, are working toward our curriculum goals in a modified program that is age appropriate and playful.
The 4 pillars of our program curriculum:
1-Research-based teaching principles
2-Cecchetti method of ballet technique and classical study/performance
3-Pilates and strengthening work
4- Progressive training model with assessments and feedback

While we continue to develop our methods each year, we have found our system to be an excellent model to teach ballet to children and make it applicable to them.
We have designed our curriculum to build upon the dancer’s level each year. Each ballet class has a set research-based curriculum that pivots directly from the Cecchetti method of ballet training combined with a full-body approach encompassing flexibility, Pilates strengthening techniques and creative movement. We take into account a child’s age and attention span when building the class model.
Registered students and families can request a copy of their class curriculum, ballet terminology and stretch charts to reinforce our training for home practice. All of our students have open access to our dozens of practice videos to continue learning outside the studio!
Samantha Scotto Gobeille opened Arizona Dance Artistry in July 2008 to provide dance education centered on classical ballet and jazz technique while offering a range of dance styles to learn from. She has studied dance technique, dance history and kinesiology for over 25 years and is classically trained in Cecchetti method of ballet. Samantha, a member of Dance Educators of America, has been teaching ballet, jazz and other styles for over 10 years.
Samantha believes in her dancers and sees them as a priority in her life and in her business. In 2009, Miss Sam created Arizona Dance Artistry’s youth ballet company, Phoenix Youth Ballet Theatre, an organization that presents The Nutcracker Suite each holiday season and a spring ballet. Over 90 dancers participate in this magical event each year, Samantha is so honored to pass on the history and love for ballet to her young students. See all our teacher bios on Our Staff page.
In 2019, Miss Sam decided to change the studio name to Legacy Ballet Academy to truly represent the values of the company and opportunities it provides the students.
Each class has a specific curriculum and levels of accomplishment. AZDA has a customized curriculum for all ages and levels to create a dance education environment of technique development, challenge and fun.
Our dancers 2-5yrs have a fun learning experience in class with their teachers plus they learn terminology and technique through creative dance using props, story telling and imagination. Our classes for older dancers are tailored to suit their needs and dance aspirations.
From the most serious ballet student to the child who wants to dance while pursuing other outside activities, there is something for everyone at AZDA. Our classes vary in size by style and age group.
At AZDA we believe in teaching proper technique and flexibility skills from your very first dance class. We pride ourselves on having a professional, fun and family-like atmosphere to learn in. Most of our faculty have degrees in dance education and have extensive background in performance. Our teachers value our students and want to provide the best dance experience for your dancer!
Dancers are asked to write out their short and long term goals several times during the dance season. This could be anything from, achieving their splits, a double pirouette or attending a university for a degree in dance. Our job is to assist dancers to reach this goal even if it is years away.
All dancers benefit from an environment of high expectations and structure that comes from a goal oriented program. Dancers are evaluated each semester in a written report to help make their progress more tangible for parents and to assess future class placement.
